Grant regulations: Praemium Erasmianum Fund

Show printer-friendly view Print View
  1. NIAS has a special fund called the Praemium Erasmianum Fund. It originated with a gift from the Praemium Erasmianum Foundation on the occasion of the opening of the new Conference Building for NIAS in 1993.

  2. The fund's intention is to promote the participation of post-doctoral students at scholarly events held at NIAS. The fund makes financial contributions to reduce the costs which post-doctoral students incur by taking part in summer courses or other intensive educational meetings in the NIAS Conference Building. These grants are given to cover the costs of accommodation and study facilities.

  3. The grant will cover a maximum of 50% of the total costs of the meeting, with a limit of euro 5,500 per event.

  4. The month of July is the only period in which the NIAS Conference Building is available. For this reason, when organizing meetings, it is wise to contact NIAS quite early, giving adequate notice.

  5. Applications for grants are decided by the NIAS Scholarship Committee. Applications should include a description of the aims of the course together with a programme and a budget, determined in conjunction with NIAS. The Committee then decides if the event might be considered for a grant from the Praemium Erasmianum Foundation.

  6. Applications which are sent in before September 1, will be evaluated in the Committee's October meeting. Applications received before March 1 will be discussed at the Committee's May Meeting.

  7. The people to contact at NIAS are:
Mrs. H.M. Buis, Head of Administrative Affairs ( for budget and planning).
Drs. Jos. J.M. Hooghuis, Head, Research Planning and Communication (for grant applications).
